Record basketball crowds of 51,218 and 52,079 at the two BoomersUSA games saw Marvel Stadium welcome over 103,000 basketball fans through its turnstiles last week – the biggest crowds ever for basketball games in Australia.

From hosting an AFL match on Sunday night to putting on a Basketball game on Thursday night, Marvel Stadium was completely transformed. With over 320 contractors working 24/7, over 70 tonne of production equipment was engineered and installed from the roof, retractable seats were extended to rectangular mode, 14,000 square metres of flooring was laid and much more was achieved in just four days.

With USA Basketball winning Game 1, history was made in Game 2 with the Australian Boomers bouncing back and defeating the world champions for the first time in 55 years.

Marvel Stadium has truly showcased its versatility, transforming into a basketball stadium for the very first time, demonstrating why it was crowned Global Venue of the Year at the 2019 International StadiumBusinessAwards in Manchester, UK.
