Speedway GP 2017 Season Update

After 5 rounds of the 2017 Speedway Grand Prix, the competition is heating up as we move toward the mid-way point of the season.

Our Australians have performed well throughout so far and will be looking to continue their strong form coming into the remaining rounds.

Jason Doyle of Newcastle, NSW has finished within the top five of the last five rounds, which has allowed him to hold the top place for rounds 4 and 5 with 65 points.

Doyle has recently made an impressive comeback this season after he broke three bones in his right foot following a crash in Poland. He defied the odds to race in Danish leg of the Grand Prix and put to rest any doubt, by getting three wins and keeping his top place.

Chris Holder has been having a strong season with a competitive 34 points to his name after five rounds to hold 12th place in the standings.

The Polish riders will also be the riders to watch out for coming into the second half, after their domination of the previous rounds to currently sit second and third place on the standings board.

The riders will next meet in Cardiff on Saturday 22 July where Doyle will aim to keep his top spot and Holder will strive to climb up the leader board.

Last year Holder took out last years Australian GP however Jason Doyle after leading the 2016 world rankings crashed out in the at the Torun FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Poland just a few weeks before he was due to race in Melbourne.
