Taylor Swift's special guests announced
Joining Taylor Swift on all Australian and New Zealand dates will be special guests, internationally acclaimed pop trailblazer, CHARLI XCX, plus indie-pop duo BROODS.
26-year-old Brit Charli XCX’s rise to global pop stardom has been meteoric. Regarded by The NY Times as a “pop royal”, the Grammy nominated multi-platinum selling singer, songwriter and artist is currently on tour supporting Taylor on her U.S. stadium dates.
Charli has framed a career as one of the most respected and in demand songwriters in pop today. She is the force behind the platinum hits “Boom Clap”, “Break The Rules” and “After The Afterparty”; and has collaborated on massive millennial hits with Icona Pop, “I Love It”, Iggy Azalea, “Fancy” and David Guetta “Dirty Sexy Money”.
Charli’s current trap-infused track, “5 In The Morning”, entered playlists across the world and exceeded six million streams in just a few weeks from release.
New Zealand duo Broods, comprised of siblings Georgia and Caleb Nott, released their latest single “Peach” (via Island Records Australia) in August; the first track to be lifted from their third album which is expected in early 2019. Broods had their breakthrough with the 2014 Gold single “Bridges” from their full-length debut, Evergreen. The duo released their follow-up sophomore record, Conscious, in June 2016 which debuted at #2 in Australia and featured another Gold single “Free” which also hit the top 10 on Spotify’s U.S. Viral Chart.
About Charli XCX
Charlotte Aitchison, aka Charli XCX, is fast becoming one of the hottest creators of her generation and is the award-winning talent behind the multi-platinum and global #1s “Fancy” and “I Love It” and the UK Top 10 “Boom Clap”. In 2017, she bookended the year with her ground-breaking, critically-acclaimed mixtapes ‘Number 1 Angel’ and ‘Pop 2’, featured on David Guetta and Afrojack’s global smash “Dirty Sexy Money” and released her standout summer crush anthem, “Boys”. On the latter, Charli took full creative control across casting, directing and producing the accompanying official video, which not only saw her flip the traditional male gaze on its head, but featured an all-star male cast including Stormzy, Mark Ronson, Diplo, Joe Jonas, Brendon Urie, will.i.am, Riz Ahmed + more.
Charli has won multiple awards including two Sesac Songwriter of the Year Awards, two Billboard Awards and a YouTube Music Award, alongside GRAMMY, BRIT and MTV EMA nominations. Not to mention the studio time she’s commanded with the likes of Blondie, Selena Gomez [Charli co-wrote her U.S. #1 “Same Old Love”], Gwen Stefani, Benny Blanco, David Guetta, Zara Larsson, Khalid and Diplo.
Broods released their new single “Peach” on August 7 via Island Records Australia. Premiered on triple J breakfast, the song’s kaleidoscopic sonic palette embraces buzzing guitar tones and choir-like harmonies along with woozy rhythms and intricate piano work while Georgia laments “I’m high and I’m low. No control. But everything looking peach now.” They explain: “As artists, you feel things at a much more extreme level than people who probably don’t spend most of their time inside their own heads. ‘Peach’ is about feeling all over the place all the time, and then celebrating those moments when everything feels awesome.”
Final tickets now remaining.
