The refurbishment of the southern end of Marvel Stadium referred to as Town Square, is designed to create a welcoming entry and intuitive gathering space that supports the whole community. Universal access is at the forefront of the design with a new changing places facility, sensory room and multi-faith room. The Town Square will be an open and accessible area 7 days per week, for events and non-event days, enabling temporary non-traditional events in the space. It will also link the field of play to the external concourse, connecting the Stadium precinct and the city that will support day to day life of the Docklands precinct, while providing increased weather protection for year round user comfort.
The proposal for the redevelopment of the South Town Square is grounded in extensive analysis of the stadium. The works will provide a flexible public space for events, an external concourse that is lined with food and beverage offerings, consolidated new entry gates 2 and 3 ticketing and gate line, as well as a dedicated patron amenities hub at a new gate 1.
